Governance Award for Lviv Project

Governance Awards are supported by the City of Vienna, the Austrian Foreign Ministry, Austrian Federation of Industrialists and Assembly of European Regions (see elsewhere on this site). One of the 2014 awardees is Roman Kryvosheia from Lviv, Ukraine.

This project deals with problems such as social exclusion of vulnerable groups of citizens due to their limited ability to exercise their rights. It brings together law students with citizens to help them benefit from mutual cooperation and foster social cohesion. The project also aims to encourage young people to become more involved in matters of public interest so that they feel an integral part of the community as well as giving them experience for future careers and life.
Lviv Legal Group, a non-governmental organisation run by and for students wanting to make a contribution to a more democratic, equal and inclusive society. The project works throughout the year and includes teams of three to four students each. Clients used to meet on the premises of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (law faculty) but now there is a separate office.
